Mobile Artist Studios

The city is changing. Studio space is disappearing. How can we tackle this problem?

There has been a steady decline in Vancouver studio space over the last 10 years, with existing spaces facing precarious and uncertain futures.

The FLEET project is a nimble, flexible and creative response to the need for artist studios.  Their group of artists, designers and planners working towards designing, building and deploying temporary, moveable artist studios in the city, teamed up with our group of Studio illustrators to envision new ideas and concepts of artist studios with the general public.

Four breakout tables worked on co-designing moveable artist work-studio/production spaces for four different urban zones: industrial, residential, commercial and waterfront.

Thank you to Crummy Gallery, Nooroongi Books and Upstart & Crow books for being our satellite spaces for the session
