About the event

COVID-19 has forced us to change the way we engage with each other. While Zoom fatigue and a lack of physical connection may be straining our personal relationships, could these restrictions teach us how to reimagine the world of public engagement, and to broaden the often-narrow conception of who “the public” is?

Join us for another edition of Distant, Not Disengaged to challenge ideas of what public engagement should look like, and discuss future possibilities for more participatory decision-making in our democracies. We’ll be joined by a moderator and panelists who all bring unique perspectives to the world of engagement.

Moderator:

  • Precious Ile is a Student Development Educator at Simon Fraser University and an IAP2 practitioner.

Panelists:

  • Amanda Gibbs is an Engagement Advisor at the City of Vancouver.
  • Uytae Lee is a video columnist at CBC and the creator of the About Here video series.
  • Additional panelists to be announced.
