About the event

Please join an Urban Lunch featuring UBC School of Community and Regional Planning professor Julia Harten and Erick Villagomez, Editor-in-Chief of Spacing Vancouver, author of The Laws Of Settlements, and fellow SCARP teacher on Thursday July 22nd from 12:00pm – 1:00 pm via Zoom.

Julia and Erick will build on the interesting discussion initiated in the first Urban Lunch with Jens von Bergmann and Nathanael Lauster. Influenced by the work from Alain Bertaud's Order without Design, They will be sharing insights from their research, they will attempt to weave a more complex narrative around affordability and densification: touching upon their relationship to urban pattern, building type, and social equity. The session is sure to provoke many interesting questions.

The Urban Lunches are held in the lead up to Alain Bertaud's presentation when he visits Vancouver on the evening of September 20th at the Vancouver Playhouse. Alain Bertaud was the chief Urban Planner of the World Bank and is the author of the internationally acclaimed Order Without Design. Alain began his career working for le Corbusier designing Chandigarh the capital of Punjab.

To register for the Thursday July 22nd Urban Lunch with Julia Harten and Erick Villagomez please RSVP here: info@globalcivic.org.
