About the event
Five Crucial Decades of City Building
Greater Vancouver is simultaneously at the leading edge of the global urban tsunami and being overturned by it. This two-day forum will reveal the processes that are upending Vancouver and the processes fueling the metastatic growth of cities far distant.
“It is a remarkable thing. We are now witnessing the fastest transformation of human habitat ever. All over the world, countrysides are emptying while cities burst. Remarkably, as cities fill the average number of births per woman shrinks. Thus, within the next five decades, the average city will double in size, then stop growing—potentially forever.” Patrick M. Condon, Program Chair, Master of Urban Design
