About the event

BC Hydro Power Smart Lecture by Philippe Block, Block Research Group, ETH Zurich.

Philippe Block is an architectural engineer and associate professor in the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, where he co-leads the block Research Group. He is also an associate faculty member of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering. His multi-disciplinary research interests include graphical analysis and design techniques, computational form finding and optimization, structural and architectural geometry, digital fabrication and appropriate construction. Block has won numerous awards and fellowships for his research, including the 2007 Hangai Prize, 2010 Tsuboi Award and 2012 Edoardo Benvenuto Prize.

Lectures are free and open to the public. The SALA Lecture Series qualifies for British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects Continuing Education Credits. Members of the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada may self-report this activity for Learning Unit consideration.
