About the event
The City of New Westminster is launching the reGENERATE Ideas Challenge to seek bold ideas for reimagining the residential neighbourhood around 22nd Street SkyTrain station, a busy regional rapid transit station, to accommodate diverse housing and increase services and community amenities. The City is looking for both proven or cutting edge approaches to designing for climate change mitigation and adaptation in a growing municipality. Cash prizes of up to $5,000 will be awarded to the top ideas.
From November 20th to January 31st the City invites you to submit your ideas about how we could transform the area into a climate-friendly neighbourhood where everyone can thrive. We hope your ideas will demonstrate bold climate leadership. These could be small-or-large scale design ideas or policy recommendations. These ideas may also embrace Indigenous-led climate action or focus strongly on equity, diversity, and inclusion. Registration for the Challenge closes January 15th, 2024.
Entry is open to everyone – community members, students, youth, designers, urban development professionals, climate thought leaders, and everyone in between. Entrants can participate individually or in groups. Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged.
