About the event

On October 14, Vancouver holds an important by-election to fill a Council seat vacated when Geoff Meggs resigned to become Chief of Staff to B.C.'s new Premier, John Horgan. SFU City Conversations has invited all nine Council candidates to join you in conversation. Don’t miss this opportunity to interact with each candidate!

The candidates (and party affiliations) are: Hector Bremner (NPA); Diego Cardona (Vision); Mary Jean Watermelon Dunsdon (Sensible Vancouver); Pete Fry (Green Party); Judy Graves (OneCity); Gary Lee; Damian J. Murphy; Jean Swanson; and Joshua Wasilenkoff.

To keep the focus on you, the SFU City Conversations' participants, each candidate will have two minutes to describe their qualifications and platform. Then it's your turn to question, observe, and offer your opinions. Remember, it’s a conversation!

There's an election for school trustees too, but there are 19 candidates for nine seats–too many for our format to host. We hope that this opportunity will help you decide which candidate you prefer, but don’t forget to get out and vote, exercising democracy's most precious right and privilege!

Remember that seating is limited, so please come early to guarantee yourself a seat, and feel free to bring your lunch.
