ADFF Panel: Best in the World
Copenhagen is widely considered one of the world’s most livable cities, but it wasn’t always this way. Best in the World offers a closer look at the Danish capital’s journey from an industrial city on the brink of bankruptcy to the transformed Copenhagen of today. Celebrated writer and filmmaker Hans Christian Post takes stock of the cost of this transformation, examining inequity within the city’s borders and in the surrounding countryside. Through conversations with architects, activists, and writers, the film asks us to consider who ultimately benefits from the desirable new city.

Shirley Shen (Moderator)
Shirley is an architect and the director and co-founder of Haeccity Studio Architecture. Shirley has taught at UBC SALA, served on the Vancouver Heritage Commission, and is a Board director of the Urbanarium. Shirley's work with the Architects Against Housing Alienation is currently on exhibit at the 2023 Venice Biennale.
Kelty McKinnon
Kelty is a Principal and Director of Design at PFS Studio in Vancouver, BC. With 25 years of professional experience, Kelty brings a diverse background in landscape architecture, environmental studies, and art to all of the projects that she leads at PFS. Her current work includes the West End Waterfront Parks and Beach Avenue Vision Plan, Jericho Lands Policy Document and Rezoning, Sea Island Landscape Vision Plan, Housing for Women by Women, and Stz’uminus Arts Hub on Vancouver Island.

Jenny Tan
Jenny Tan 陳美希 (she/her) is a councillor for the City of Maple Ridge, a former journalist, and advocate for housing and active transportation. Before she was elected, Jenny served as a director with HUB Cycling to promote cycling among local governments and corporations. Prior to that role, she served as the business development director of a marketing agency. Jenny is also the host of 'Should I Stay or Should I Go?’, a podcast that examines the roots of the housing crisis.
Dr. Nathanael Lauster
Dr. Lauster is a sociologist and sometime demographer who primarily studies housing, home, households, and cities. He is the award-winning author of The Death and Life of the Single Family House: Lessons from Vancouver on Building a Livable City. He is the Principle Investigator (with Jens von Bergmann) of the CMHC-funded Metro Vancouver Zoning Project, and also runs the blog Home: Free Sociology.
