About the event
Why an Info Session?
These sessions are intended to inform Residential Developers, Large Single Family Home Builders, Design and Engineering Professionals and Energy Advisors of Vancouver Building By-law and process updates, some of which will come into effect March 1st 2018.
Seminar Agenda:
7:45 – Coffee and snacks served
8:00 – Alignment of Energy Efficiency (Part 10) By-laws for 1-6 Storey Residential Buildings (this alignment does not affect single family homes)
8:20 – GHG Emissions Cap for Large Homes (>325m2)
- Forms and submission requirements overview
8:30 – High level discussion of other initiatives
- Zoning By-law updates for thermal wall exclusions
- Zoning By-law relaxations for larger Passive House projects
- Process changes to protect Heritage home elements in renovations (Energy Advisor -specific update)
8:45 –Q&A
9:00 – End of formal session. Staff will be present afterwards to answer additional questions

Event Parking
There is limited 2 hour parking in the City Hall parking lot, as well as the 10th avenue surface lot. You can register your car in the security office on the ground floor to stay for over 2 hours.
Otherwise, you will need to find external parking. City Hall is also accessible by Skytrain, 99 B-line bus and cycle routes.
