About the event

Revitalizing history in Vancouver's Brewery Creek

Savour Vancouver’s unique heritage with an enticing combination of brewing history and craft beer in a revitalized heritage Mission Revival building. Take a walk through Mount Pleasant with Bruce MacDonald to learn about Vancouver’s illustrious brewing history, see how a garage was transformed into the home of Main Street Brewing Company, and sample some delicious locally made beer.

Discover Mount Pleasant's Brewery Creek history with Bruce MacDonald and taste Main Street Brewing Company's latest creations.

The morning begins at 10am inside the revitalized heritage building, 'Vancouver Breweries Garage'. Bruce MacDonald, Brewery Creek Historical Society past President and longtime local beer history collector, will present an illustrated history of the building and area, and share his experiences in preserving the unique history of Mt. Pleasant for the past 25 years.

Bruce will then lead the group on a walking tour of the neighbourhood's industrial heritage, stopping at former brewery sites and pointing out what remains of Vancouver's historic Brewery Creek district.

After working up a thirst on the walking tour, you'll get a tour of the brewery with Brewmaster Jack Bensley then sample four craft beer tasters paired with snacks. Owner Nigel Pike will be on hand to talk about the building's transformation from garage to brewery and the neighbourhood's revived craft beer scene.
