About the event
Storytelling walk focused on women's experiences of navigating Granville Bridge and the surrounding area.
Stories shape our personal experiences in cities and the built environment. Within the context of placemaking—the design, development, and engagement of public spaces—stories help us to understand urban histories, inform urban design projects, foster relationships across difference, and articulate a collective vision for equitable city-building.
The Granville Bridge women's storytelling walk process will be explicitly inclusive and intersectional. There will not be a single storyteller. This storytelling walk model will create an opportunity for a diverse range of local women to share their stories of navigating Granville Bridge and the surrounding area. Also, we invite ALL self-identified women, non-binary folks and others who experience gender-based challenges when navigating public spaces to share their insights. Individuals of all genders are welcome to walk, roll, listen and learn. Your experiences will inform the design of the Granville Bridge Connector and how the City approaches equity in the design of its streets and public spaces. This is a family-friendly walk & roll, including pets.
