WoodWorks BC, in collaboration with BC Housing and several key consultants, is pleased to present a half-day, in-person workshop focused on the economics of mass timber construction. This event presents key insights from the BC Housing guide on the topics of sustainability, building envelopes, and economic performance.
Part 1: Sustainability (1 hour)
· The role of Mass Timber in reducing carbon emissions
· Tracking and reporting embodied carbon
· Whole building life cycle cost analysis
· Importance of embodied carbon to government and local authorities having jurisdiction
Part 2: Building Envelope Systems (1 hour)
· Comparative analysis of the three building typologies
· Performance of EMTC in relation to energy efficiency
· Thermal performance of EMTC
· Building envelope details, connections, and design considerations
Part 3: The Business Case for Mass Timber (1 hour)
· Key methods for realizing the economic advantages of Mass Timber in 7 to 12 storey applications
· Using mass timber to shorten the construction schedule
· Design strategies for Mass Timber integration
· Optimization of mechanical and electrical energy systems
