About the event

Doors Open Vancouver (DOV) is a two-day event that invites the public to enjoy free, behind the scenes access to popular Vancouver buildings and learn about civic services while experiencing Vancouver’s architectural, design, engineering, civic and cultural heritage.

DOV will take place on Saturday, October 3 from 10 am – 5 pm with special DOV programming at Vancouver City Hall on Friday, October 2 from 12pm – 5pm.

This unique experience connects you to the buildings you know and provides you with a look into the activities that often take place behind closed doors.

The first DOV event took place in 2014. It was a one-day event with 20 participating buildings, nearly 200 volunteers and over 8,600 visits. In 2015 we aim to expand on the success of our first year and showcase more buildings over a two-day event.

Events like DOV attract hundreds of thousands of participants in cities around the world, including London, New York and Toronto.

DOV was a quick start action identified by the Mayor's Engaged City Task Force, and is brought to you by the City of Vancouver in partnership with Vancouver Public Space Network, the Vancouver Heritage Foundation, Tourism Vancouver and Cascadia Green Building Council.
