About the event

We are once again partnering with the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association to offer a series of short lunch time walking tours starting in July. Tour guide Samuel Mickelson will lead the 45-minute walks starting at The Perch, Lot 19 on West Hastings Street (at Howe Street). Registration for each days' tour will be held at the meeting point beginning at 12 noon.

The Early City: Private Clubs and ‘Temple’ Banks

West Hastings Street has some amazing early architecture thanks to a long history of financial buildings and private clubs. This tour will explore the architectural style and history of the Vancouver Club, Terminal City Club and multiple ‘temple banks’, including the former Toronto Dominion (now the SFU Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue) and the former Canadian Bank of Commerce (now Birks).
