About the event

WE ARE HERE TO CHALLENGE THE GROWING STIGMA THAT OUR BEAUTIFUL CITY IS ANYTHING BUT A WARM, FRIENDLY, AND HAPPY PLACE.

Accused of being cold, standoffish and antisocial, Vancouver, British Columbia has come under fire by both residents and visitors alike. Learn the story behind one campaign that is trying to change the perception of our city.

HOW WILL WE CHANGE THIS?
We’ll start with one weekend at a time. All change requires a single step. The inaugural Say Hi to a Stranger weekend took place November 8-10, 2013 and then we dared you to embrace Valentine’s weekend February 13-15, 2015 and shatter those barriers. Now we are planning to let the sun shine in on:

August 21-23, 2015!

Say Hi and welcome the friendliness in!

What would happen if you went up to a stranger and said “Hi”?
You could meet a new friend.
Get to know someone you could work with.
OR, meet your sweetheart!
