About the event

The Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place conference is pleased to announce part one of our speaker series highlighting Vancouver’s culture, talent, and achievement in the field of active transportation. The four-part series will run in anticipation of the 2016 Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place conference in Vancouver. Our first session will focus on the implementation of Shared Space as an effective form of street design and its future for Vancouver.

"Over the last century, in an attempt to accommodate vehicular traffic, many streets have lost their sense of place. Many communities are struggling to reconcile the demands of ever increasing traffic volumes, without destroying the urban fabric that made those places successful places to begin with. Shared space is a design strategy that redresses this balance, restoring a sense of place, while maintaining-and often improving a street's ability to accommodate movement." -Sam Goater, Project for Public Spaces.

Speakers:
Sam Goater, Project for Public Spaces
Chris and Melissa Bruntlett, Modacity
Darren Proulx, Slow Streets.
