About the event

After a wonderful turnout during Heritage Week 2018, we are reprising this popular event. Join us to learn about some of the special places recognized in the Places That Matter project, and hear about them from the people and organizations involved in bringing their history forward. The Places That Matter project highlights the lesser-known places, people and events that have shaped Vancouver. This free celebration includes displays from a variety of organizations, institutions and individuals related to Places That Matter sites and local history, a short program of storytelling, as well as live music and refreshments. We will also have updates on the project and new ways to get involved.

  • Stay tuned! We are working on plaque presentations for 5 Musqueam Sites, BC Place Stadium and J.W. Sexsmith Community School.
  • Get involved! We are in the process of developing a VHF Heritage Study Guide for students and teachers, with the new BC Curriculum.
